BIRCH HARDWOOD AND PLYWOOD SHIPMENTS FOR SALE TO DISTRIBUTORS.

BIRCH hardwood shipments arrive every month for the furniture frame trade. Also for this market sector we bring in BIRCH plywood in standard thicknesses and sizes. This is available ex wharf stock at East and South coast ports, for immediate delivery.

WOODLINK are now involved in Eastern Europe, in particular carcassing and pallet wood from the Baltic countries. This is increasing every month and the quality is exceptional. WOODLINK was one of the first U.K. Companies to bring in full cargos of timber from the Baltic States in 1994, following the emergence of the CIS in Eastern Europe.

Another developement, in 1995, is the import and marketing of Russian Redwood and Whitewood from the unsorted top grades for furniture, down to the fifths for packaging. Also, included for this market sector is RUSSIAN BIRCH PLYWOOD in standard thicknesses.

From Sweden, Norway and Finland, regular shipments of Redwood and Whitewood in grades suitable for both carcassing and furniture/joinery market sectors.

From Portugal, we are importers of pallet wood and agents for a number of large well-established mills. Regular monthly shipments arrive at various ports around the country. More specialised is the import of MARITIME PINE for vegetable crates and seed boxes.

Another major activity of WOODLINK is the importing of slats and battens from Portugal which are sold to fencing panel manufacturers throughout the U.K.

The major imports from Canada and the U.S.A. are hardwoods and softwoods, mainly Birch, Ash, Oak, Cherry and Aspen (for the packaging trade).

Softwoods imported include Spruce, in construction sizes, and Southern Yellow Pine.
